Think back to elementary school or middle school. Do you remember your Field Day? Do you remember how you were having fun by celebrating the end of the year, by having fun with your friends, or because you got to skip school? This year, on May 29th, our school went on a Field Trip to East River Park to have fun with each other and have a break from school work. Our school held many races like the Sack Race, Three-Legged Race, Relay Race, and the Egg and Spoon Race. There was also a Tug of War between students and teachers. The school brought mini-games and board games, as well, for the students to use. Field Day seems like a great idea for the school to get students active and have fun.
The games were very competitive among the students. Winners were awarded ribbons to the first, second, and third place teams. The teams that won the competitions were Dahlia and Janaiya; Misael and Ulises; Astry and Katourah; Chelsi, Aniyah, and Eva; Yuliet, Lucya, and Sophia; Sebastian, Eli, Khadim, and Jason; Sung Ho, Jonathan, Misael, and Jimmy.

After interviewing students, it’s clear that they had so much fun and would love for the school to have another Field Day next year. They liked participating in the competitions and interacting with their friends. Even some of the teachers participated in the activities at Field Day. Whether it was playing basketball with the students or being active in the competitions, they really enjoyed hanging out with the students and enjoying their day there. Even the teachers and staff think the Field Day went well. Many of them said Leadership should encourage these kinds of events for the following years. These kinds of trips allow for students to get a break from school and create new friendships and communities with other students. One of them thought that it could be fun to have a Field Day during winter, where we do winter activities like skiing, snow tubing, having snowball fights, and making snowmen. Now that the school knows what needs to be done for a Field Day, I think it would be easier and quicker the next time since the school experienced it now. I believe that our school needs more events like Field Day since it gives us students a chance to show our competitiveness, take our minds off of school, and have fun.
