An exciting batch of movies have come to life this year. Whether it’s one about talking toys or the effects of the digital world on fashion, there’s so many to choose from. There are many big movies that I think will be great. Christopher Nolan, who has been known to create many big hits, has written and directed the movie The Odyssey. But also, your favorite superhero would be getting another movie. Avengers Doomsday has a massive crossover with so many superheroes. Here is what’s worth watching this Summer.
Toy Story 5
Talking toys or a controlling iPad? Toy Story 5 will be based on a girl named Bonnie that is four years old. In this movie, Bonnie has gotten an iPad and abandoned her toys. The toys will come together to stop the iPad so Bonnie can use them again. The actor that is doing the voice over for Woody is Tom Hanks; and the person that is voice overing Buzz Lightyear is Tim Allen; Joan Cusack voices Jessie; Greta Lee voices Lilypad; Annie Pats voices Bo Peep; Wallace Shawn voices Rex; John Ratzenberger voices Hamm; and Tony Hale voices Slinky Dog. This movie will be released on June 19th, 2026. This movie will be interesting; it will acknowledge the effect of technology on children but also it will be funny. I’m excited to see this movie because the past Toy Story movies have been funny and I’m interested to see how the impact the iPad will have. You could watch this movie with friends, a date, or by yourself.
The Odyssey
Interested in Greek mythology? The Odyssey is an adaptation of the heroic narrative The Odyssey by the Greek poet Homer. In summary, it is about Odysseus, a Greek king of Ithaca, wanting to go home after the Trojan War to reunite with his wife. In his journey, he will encounter many obstacles/mythical creatures who try to hinder him. Famous actors, Anne Hatheway, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Matt Damon will be starring and the movie will be produced by famous director Christopher Nolan. This is the type of movie where you could go with friends or by yourself. The movie will be released on July 17th, 2026. This sounds interesting to me since I enjoy watching action movies and Greek mythology. I recommend this movie to anyone who’s interested in historical fantasy.
The Devil Wears Prada 2
How does the digital world affect the fashion industry now? The Devil Wears Prada 2 is the sequel to the first movie that came out about two decades ago. The first movie was about a journalist, Andrea “Andy” Sachs, who becomes a junior assistant to Miranda Priestly, who is the editor-in-chief of the fictional magazine Runway. Even though Andy knows little about fashion, she has to meet the demanding expectations of Miranda. She’s then forced to change appearances as well as attitude. In the sequel, the magazine Runway is financially struggling and Miranda has to deal with the digital world now that print media is losing its popularity. Andy comes back to Runway as a Features Editor and Miranda doesn’t recognize her. The main actors/actresses are Anne Hathaway (Andy), Merryl Streep (Miranda), Emily Blunt, Simone Ashley, and Stanley Tucci. The Devil Wears Prada 2 will come out on May 1st, 2026. These two movies are fashion films with drama and comedy. Anyone could watch this movie at any time, whether you’re going to see it on a date or with friends, unless you don’t care for fashion. Personally, I don’t care for fashion. But, if you’re someone who does and is looking to see a movie about fashion with comedy, I recommend this movie.
Avengers Doomsday
How would you feel about a crossover between numerous superheroes? Though the plot is not fully known yet, it can be inferred that superhero groups like the Avengers, New Avengers, Fantastic Four, Wakandans, and the X-Men will unite to go against Doctor Doom in the movie Avengers Doomsday. Some of the confirmed actors in this movie will be Robert Downey Jr; Pedro Pascal, Chris Hemsworth, Paul Rudd, Channing Tatum, Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, Wyatt Russell, Tom Hiddleston, Winston Duke, Danny Ramirez, Letitia Wright, Simu Liu, and Chris Evans. It will be an action/adventure superhero movie where you can watch with your friends or by yourself. The movie will come out on December 18th, 2026, you’ll have to wait a bit for this movie. For me, I’ve always been interested in Marvel movies for the action, so I will be looking forward to it and how Thor, my favorite character, will have his impact in the movie. I am recommending this movie because it seems exciting for all the superheroes to be in the same movie.
