Press Pass Journal Panelist Visits Leadership

In November, Leadership had a  visit from Press Pass NYC to talk about their Journal Panelists work  and their Journey to get to where they are.

Maria Alvarez,a veteran New York City news reporter covering breaking stories and feature stories for Newsday.Alvarez currently  teaches journalism at the Borough of Manhattan College and at the City of University Newmark Graduate School of Journalism.

Katie Herchenroeder who is currently a Reporter-Researcher at The New Republic. She has previously worked with VICE World News and MSNBC. Katie’s work appears in such publications as VICE, The New Republic, Quartz, the NY Daily News, BKLYNER, and more. She writes about a wide range of topics, specializing in women’s issues, inequity, and international politics.

They also shared a few tips  for those interested in writing stories or pursuing Journalism as a career.
